RARE Antique Georgian 1700s 11.5" Shagreen (Stingray) Knife Box

Rare antique 1700s Georgian era 11.5" stationery, scribe's or knife box, black shagreen exterior with brass mounts & side handles and original fitted interior! Rare, rare, rare! These wonderful old knife boxes seem to be getting harder and harder to find. We've had beautiful marquetry inlaid pieces in the past but this is, I believe, the first full sized shagreen knife box that we've had the pleasure to find and/or offer! Standing a large 11.5" in height, the box has a curved front, brass or bronze lock, side handle and finger ring on the lid, not to mention the turned bronze feet. The interior appears complete and is original, possibly only missing the lining on the slotted fittings but there is red velvet in the lid and framing the fixtures, gold metallic threaded accenting around lid and fittings. Wonderful condition for its 200 or so years, a piece you'll love owning and displaying, don't miss it!

Very good condition! No key but the original lock and hardware are all intact. The interior appears complete, the exterior is in exemplary condition with just a bit of surface scuffing at the edges and one triangular patch on the right hand side. See pictures for measurements.
