Title: Rare Italian Vintage Salvatore Ferragamo birds scarf backed in pure Irish Linen cushion gold Description: This gem is a one-of-a-kind custom made luxury cushion (pillow) from an exquisite and rare vintage Salvatore Ferragamo fashion scarf in an exquisite flora and fauna design. Salvatore Ferragamo was an innovative shoe designer from Milan renowned for his iconic 1930s cork wedges and the 1947 ‘invisible shoe’. In fact in the 1980s Ferragamo used his early shoe designs as prints on their scarves. He first introduced silk scarves to his collections in the 1950s, the earliest depicting African zoological animals and flora theme, the brand is still known today for producing exotic animals and organic motifs on their luxury scarves. This particularly sweet scarf is a very rare and exceptional piece, and we feel a more unique find than their usual tigers and large cats, a very special piece to add to our growing collection of treasure and finds. The charming birds in subtle browns are nestled in amongst the foliage, the two on the left identifiable as ‘snipes’ with their long, slender beaks. The group is gracefully surrounded by luscious and beautifully coloured flowers and leaves with a central stylised rose tree in a formal planter. Colours of warm gold, orangey apricot, ochre, pink, mustard yellow and sage green. Note the ‘Salvatore Ferragamo’ signature placed proudly within a plaque along the bottom. It has a country vibe to the picture and would look great in a farmhouse style manor house. It would make a very sweet statement piece for an interior. Matched with velvet or rattan furniture would be superb. The fabric was personally hand-picked by Katie at antiques market ‘Marche aux Puces Saint-Ouen’ on the outskirts of Paris. On a sumptuous silk soft to the touch. Backed in new 100% pure Irish linen, the aristocrat of textiles and certified by the Irish Linen Guild, lined in a layer of natural bamboo cloth, filled with new custom-made plush duck feather insert and a concealed zip. The traditional oatmeal color linen is a combination of the unbleached raw colour of the natural flax plant on the weft intertwined with pristine white on the warp, resulting in a beautiful melange effect.
