Uzbek Silk Textile, with Its Original Egg-White Glaze on It, Early 20th C

About the Item

Crisp silk panel from Bukhara, Uzbekistan: These stripped textiles were mainly used for chapans and caftans called 'Khalad' for men. This piece seems to have never been used and probably was put together for a wall hanging or quilt. Brilliant colora and it still has the egg-white glaze sitting on it.
