Ararat Rugs Kuba Rug with Palmettes Caucasian Revival Carpet - Natural Dyed

About the Item

The source of the rug comes from the book Oriental Rugs Volume 1 Caucasian, Ian Bennett, Oriental Textile Press, Aberdeen 1993, pg.244. This is a single vertical palmette design rug from the early 19th century, Kuba region, Caucasus area. This is an unusual stylized version of the Caucasian shield-like palmettes rugs, with a series of borders and floral motifs. This rug strongly suggests a totemic origin like the similar Genje examples. Our designers interpret the design of the rug, and vivid colors are chosen for this rug. Colors: Blue, Navy, Red Group: Caucasian Rugs Family Area: Kuba region Material of Pile: Natural Dyed Hand-spun Wool Material Warp / Weft: Wool on Cotton Structure: Shirvan technique, Symmetrical knot Knots Density: 35x42 Production Place: Southeastern Anatolia – Diyarbakir Stock Location: Tokyo Size (EU): 91 X 316cm Size (US): 2'11" X 10'4" Area (EU): 2.9m² Area (US): 31ft².
