Caucasian Karabakh (Qarabag) Carpet, 1950-1970

About the Item

This is a vintage Karabakh rug woven in the southern Caucasus during the mid-20th century circa 1950 – 1970 and measures 287 by 158 CM in size. This piece has a triple medallion design each decorated with steppingstones and an inner hooked medallion. The field is decorated with a variety of tribal geometric and floral motifs as well as animals all set on a pinkish-red background color. the main border is made up of repeating multi-colored geometric hooked motifs set on a light green background. this rug is made-up of soft colors allowing the rug to be placed in any type of environment without it being extremely intrusive. it has been preserved in overall excellent condition and is ready to be used and enjoyed.
