Handknotted Kazak Wool Carpet in Blue-Turquise-Red-Brown Geometric Design 1960s

About the Item

Kazak knotted carpets originally come from the Caucasus region. A Kazak is characterised by geometric patterns and figures and striking colours. This Kazak was hand-knotted in the style of Caucasian rugs and impresses with its high robustness and vibrant colors. It thus reflects the culture of the Caucasus in a beautiful composition. A culture that has mastered the art of carpet weaving for centuries and presents it to the outside world with charmingly simple shapes in impressively vibrant colors. This rug is made from hand-spun sheep's wool of the highest quality. In Persia, Afghanistan, Pakistan and Turkey in particular, the wool is spun by hand before the actual knotting of the rug begins. Over the centuries, wool has proven to be a natural and extremely hard-wearing material. Among other things, it has dirt-repellent and heat-insulating properties. • 3 Spanish Turquise Aluminium Vintage Chairs by Oscar Tusquets Blanca 1980s
    By Oscar Tusquets Blanca
    Located in Salzburg, AT
Exceptional sculptural chairs in cast aluminum with stylized naturalistic decorations and strong design character, signed by Oscar Tusquets Blanca - stamped on the back side. Slightly inclined backrest and slightly curved seat shell, therefore very comfortable. The turquoise color is already a little worn, which gives the chair even more depth. (Oscar was Salvador Dali's best friend and they realized many projects together. ) Here is more information about the artist and the design of this chair: Prize winner at the Feria Internacional del Mueble, Madrid 1996 Oscar Tusquets Blanca: "The manufacturer who commissioned me has mastered the technique of casting aluminum and then treating the product with an interesting palette of shades and patinas. Smooth, shiny surfaces are the most difficult to obtain, and so their catalog offers a wide range of textures and reliefs, but always imitating other materials: Bamboo, pith, willow, cast iron, etc. Our challenge was to take advantage of the manufacturer's tradition and knowledge, respect its technology and design an object that, although highly textured, does not imitate any other material and can be decorated completely freely: a sculpture to sit on. A chair, a light armchair reminiscent of a grouse. Cast aluminum as a precious metal that reproduces all the subtleties, details and decorations that we work into the form. A special hand-applied patina finish highlights the reliefs and provides a satin finish that avoids the aggressive glare of direct sunlight while still revealing the beautiful base material." Tusquets Blanca, Oscar (*1941 Barcelona) The architect and designer Oscar Tusquets, one of the initiators of New Design in Spain, studied at the Escuela Tecnica de Arquitectura in Barcelona until 1965 and worked in the office of architect Alfonso Milá while still a student. In 1965, together with Pep Bonet, Christián Cirici and Lluís Clotet, Tusquets founded the architectural group Studio Per, which was dedicated to a communicative, postmodern architectural language. He is also a founding member of the Spanish furniture company B. D. Ediciones de Diseño, whose range includes designs by contemporary designers as well as re-editions by Antoni Gaudí and Charles Rennie Mackintosh. Tusquets' Villa Belvedere Regás (1972) is considered one of the first international postmodernist buildings. His other architectural projects include designs for residential complexes, the extension of the Medical School in Barcelona and the extension of a block of flats in Carrer de Sant Màrius. From 1982 to 1989, Tusquets restored the Palau de la Música Catalana in Barcelona in collaboration with the architect Carlos Díaz...
