Antique Turkoman Rug

About the Item

Turkoman (or Turkmen) rugs, were made by nomadic Turkoman tribes of Central Asia, in and around today's Turkmenistan. Made to travel, the weavings were used as tent rugs, wall hangings and carrying bags. The use of local wool and natural dyes and designs unique to each tribal makes them each distinctive works of art.
