Vintage Afghan Tribal Kilim Rug, with Geometric Stripes, from Rug & Kilim

About the Item

Hand knotted in wool, this 5x5 vintage Afghan tribal kilim rug, originating circa 1950-1960, is a very special piece in the Rug & Kilim collection which is clearly woven from multiple flatweaves in the palas fashion. On the design: The design enjoys vibrant colors in stripes and geometric patterns with a mild element of embroidery in its texture. Admirers of the craft may appreciate the colors playing joyfully in the patterns, and ultimately appreciate the movement these variations create. The minimalist design prefers notes of red, orange and navy blue underscores and vibrant geometric patterns in embroidered motifs throughout the stripes. It’s simple, cozy design is an idyllic choice for its period and promises to age beautifully. This particular rug is an especially rare and equally personal piece which is full of movement and charm. Condition: This vintage Afghan tribal kilim rug further enjoys good condition for its age and origin.
