20th Century Yellow and Blue Wool Hand Knotted Chinese Dragoons Rug
About the Item
Rare Chinese carpet for the color of lemon yellow background. The subject of the decoration is that of the dance of the dragons, enriched by an important border where the Buddhist symbols of the good wishes are represented. The infinite knot that is a symbol of the power that binds and unties, by extension therefore also of destiny, of the fate and the inevitability of things. The covered pot, known as the envelope of all desires, contains the heavenly elixir and symbolizes the continuation of peace and harmony. The lotus flower symbol of purity and perfection: the uncontaminated lotus from the mud opens up towards the light on the water's surface. The canopy that suggests protection and security. The wheel of the doctrine which with its rays indicates the paths of Buddhist salvation. Finally, the stylization of the Shou (long life) ideogram, represented here in the two forms, in a circle and in a more rare elongated shape.
