Early 20th Century Chinese Peking Carpet ( 9' x 11'6" - 275 x 350 )

About the Item

Blue and white is always fashionable and in this circa 1900 Peking Chinese carpet it is applied in a restrained , sophisticated manner with a complex, bi-tonal fret medallion floating with “shou” and other quasi-calligraphic symbols, within bold light blue fret corners, and an elegant reciprocal T-fret border.. The condition of this northeastern Chinese carpet is excellent. The variations in the lighter blue tones eliminate any trace of excess formal rigor.
