Mid-Century Moroccan Beige and Brown Geometric Wool Rug by Rug & Kilim

About the Item

This mid-century Moroccan rug from Rug & Kilim has an all-over field design featuring a modern geometric style. Originating from Morocco between 1950-1960, the spacious 15’11” length is the product of more recent Moroccan looms large enough to produce area rugs of this quality, whereas historically most Moroccan looms could only produce smaller wool pieces. The geometric columns create unique dimensionality with mixed pile height smoother and flatter in the chestnut brown vertical lines while being more lush and textural with the lighter beige pile while the upper and lower fringes intercept the brown background with finely woven beige line work. Another credit to this piece as a newer Moroccan is the one-sided tassels above the upper fringe (whereas many Moroccan pieces have repeating tassels), lending intrigue to the orientation of this piece in a space. Quick & easy to clean.
