Magnificently Soft and Tribal Ivory and Black Vintage Moroccan Beni Ourain Shag Rug, Origin: Morocco, Circa: Mid-20th Century – This Moroccan Beni Ourain rug is the perfect complement to any modern minimalist or Scandinavian design theme. The Beni Ourain people are made up of the seventeen Berber tribes located in the Atlas Mountains region of Morocco. Their designs are known for the use of undyed wool and simple lines created from natural dyes and plant materials. Each vintage Moroccan Berber carpet uses design symbols that reflect a story in the weaver’s life. This vintage shag Moroccan rug features five diamonds, four of which are the same size, with one of them larger than the others. This beautiful and soft vintage shag rug is framed on both sides by lines made by rough triangular shapes. This vintage mid century rug is somewhat directional, as all of the triangles point in the same direction. That said, most people don’t notice this aspect of the design and would not have a problem with placing it in either direction. The vintage Moroccan Beni Ourain shag rug is roughly symmetrical in the vertical direction, but not in the horizontal.
