Mata Ortiz "Paquime Rug" by Brera Studio, Hector Gallegos Y Laura Bugarini
About the Item
About the piece
Paquimé rug portrays the archaeological zone plans; its bold border illustrates the stepped circulation found in architecture and represented in ceramics. The different adobe color shades within the rug's interior symbolize the city's constructive areas: the ceremonial buildings, Central Plaza, and housing units.
This piece was designed for INEDITO 2022 by Design Week Mexico.
About the collection
Paquimé is a distinctive archaeological site located in Chihuahua, Mexico. It is deemed a World Heritage Site by UNESCO, thanks to its unique labyrinthine architecture adapted to its surroundings and for being a point of conversion between the West and the Center of Mexico.
The collection photography campaign was made in collaboration with Anahuacalli, a studio, museum, and temple for art that Diego Rivera conceived as an architectural piece that unites past, present, and future to the natural environment. The fusion between the collection and the space perfectly complements, opening a dialogue between pre-Hispanic and current Mexico.
Product care
For the first few months your rug will shed loose fibers as you vacuum it. This shedding is normal and does not affect the durability or appearance of the rug. We recommend vacuuming your rug once a week, and daily if it's in a high-traffic area. For deep cleaning we recommend going to a wool rug cleaning specialist, using the dry method for general cleaning, and the wet method for deep cleaning. In the event of staining your rug, try to remove the stain immediately with a cleaning formula by wiping from the edge of the stain towards the center.
