About the Item

Antique Persian rug handwoven from the finest sheep’s wool and colored with all-natural vegetable dyes that are safe for humans and pets. It’s a traditional Mahal design featuring floral details in green and blue over a red center field. It’s a lovely piece to showcase in contemporary and rustic spaces. It has a dimension of 7’5”x 10’3” which is ideal for bedrooms, living areas and dining halls. Mahal rugs are made in the surrounding areas of Arak which was formerly known as Sultanabad. For this reason, Sultanabad and Mahal rugs look very similar to each other as they were made using the same weaving techniques predominant in the region. However, older Sultanabad Rugs made in the early 1880s were considered of higher quality compared to the newer Mahal versions. Both use bold and ornate floral motifs.
