About the Item

With a deep indigo background and an all-over geometric floral design, this hand-knotted Serapi carpet is woven in blue, pink, red, gold, brown, and green wool and measures 8’1” x 10’3”. Hand-woven in India circa 2020, this carpet has a Serapi-inspired design, illustrating a compact and flourishing flower garden. Weaving symbolism into each fiber of this carpet, weavers selected butterflies, flowers, and bird motifs to depict the circle of life. The design evokes and illustrates balance, which is why the carpet is so inviting and echoed in the symbolic elements. In the border, which represents the garden's exterior walkway, gold butterflies find themselves interconnected and floating within pink and rust-red colored motifs. Because this Serapi measures just over 8’ x 10’, this piece will find its place in any space or home.
