Extremely Fine Persian Habibian Wool and Silk Rug 5'5'' x 9'0''

About the Item

Close to the western edge of the great desert Dasht-e-Kavir, 200 kilometers east of Isfahan is the picturesque city of Nain. In the city one can see the characteristic clay buildings and one of the oldest mosques in Iran with remains from the 10th century. Carpets from the city have a high reputation and are very popular. Material as well as the workmanship is of highest class and the knot density is high; often more than one million knots per square meter. The material in the more exclusive carpets consists of wool on a silk warp or silk in the warp as well as in the weft and pile. Patterns with a medallion in the middle together with arabesques and floral motifs are common. The similarity to carpets from the nearby city of Isfahan is remarkable. One of the rarer type of Nain carpets on the market is the "Nain Tuteshk" and with an incredibly refined craftsmanship, they are much sought after. It sometimes occurs that carpets of slightly lower quality, with similar patterns and colors, are sold as Nain carpets.

Shir Far is renowned for his unparalleled craftsmanship, distinguished by high-quality materials, distinctive designs, and captivating color combinations. Intricately designed with a touch of Rococo opulence, this hand-knotted wool and silk vintage Persian Shirfar Tabriz rug exudes an air of timeless elegance. The allover floral motif, delicately woven in soft pastel hues, evokes a sense of refined grandeur reminiscent of Rococo aesthetics. The medallion's ornate design is further accentuated by dramatic corner spandrels, boasting intricate baroque elements that set the stage for an abundance of flower garlands and organic leafy mounds. Encapsulating the floral medallion is a border adorned with a variation of Rococo-inspired floral motifs, delicately intertwined with inner and outer botanical floral guard bands. The border exudes decadent beauty, framing the rug with a sense of lavishness and refinement characteristic of Rococo design. The dreamy color palette, with its soft pastel tones, adds to the rug's allure, creating a harmonious balance between elegance and subtlety. With its elaborate detailing and sophisticated design, this vintage floral Persian rug...
