Hand-knotted in wool circa 1890-1900, this 13x24 antique Persian Joshaghan rug is an exciting and rare new collectible. with floral patterns arranged in diamond patterns all over the field and the medallion—-popularly called the Mina Khani design.
On the Design:
Popularly called the Mina Khani design, admirers of the craft will appreciate this design of geometric floral motifs arranged in the shape of diamonds—wherein the field is covered with daisies connected together with lines that form the lattices and circles in an all-over style. Though polychromatic in its many beauties (particularly for a rug of this astonishing large size and scale), there’s a notable presence of rich red, navy blue, and gold tones underscoring the many hues in field and border alike.
