This antique Oushak rug has many eye-catching and breath-taking elements of design. Steeped in Anatolian history, this richly symbolic antique Oushak Turkish rug features a quintessential compilation of traditional protection symbols. Rustic motifs, age-old talismans and stylized botanical decorations create a formal series of repeating medallions that extend throughout to the edges of the soft tomato red field. The handsome, refined medallions are rendered in a lovely assortment of low-contrast earth tones that have strong angular contours and impeccable contrasting outlines that highlight each latch-hook, protective zol symbol and botanical. The understated light blue border and stylized botanical motifs with avian features enclose the beautifully styled field while highlighting the rustic Anatolian influences that are reflected in all of the decorative, highly symbolic designs.
