Rustic and refined, this hand knotted wool vintage Turkish Oushak gallery rug features a large stepped hexagonal medallion with anchor pendants floating in the center of an abrashed ruby red field. The ends of the field form stepped mihrab niches, forming a doubled prayer rug design with rosette-dotted spandrels. A graphic blossom and leaf Meander main border and carnation Meander guard borders frame the composition. The gorgeous color combination of earthy hues and soft gray-blues are uniquely striking when set against the sumptuous, deep red backdrop, while the piece’s juxtaposition of bold geometric forms and cheerful floral detailing bring an added sense of richness to the overall design.
