Bright-hued trees of life motifs ornament the field in this joyful, playful hand knotted wool vintage Turkish Oushak rug with Memphis Design style. Trees of life often represent monotheism and the forbidden fruit. Here they are arranged in an alternating row of five with diamonds and S-shapes and affronted triangles among them. The diamonds represent the eye and protection against evil as do the S shapes meanwhile the affronted triangles are the symbol for a hair band representing the female weaver's desire to get married. The border is a colorful display of motifs, here an angular S shape also representing the weaver's desire to get married. A colorful orange strip with alternating motifs finishes one short end of the border. This rug is a colorful amalgam of motifs wishing for love and commitment. The vibrant colorway can be interpreted as having hope and a light heart.
