This hand knotted wool vintage Turkish Oushak rug features a cusped lozenge medallion with comb pendants at either end floating in a hexagonal stepped cut-out field. Each corner spandrel is adorned with rectilinear symbols composed of tree of life, hyacinth, angular blossoms, and comb motifs. The center composition is framed by pillars or columns with spiked edges and the symbolic hands on hip motif rests in each corner. Horizontal rectangular bands filled with ziggurat mounds are capped at either end. It is enclosed with an alternating eight-point star and cartouche border flanked with inner and outer subsidiary guard borders.
