18th Century, Four Italian Large Lacquered Giltwood Armchairs

About the Item

18th century, four Italian large lacquered giltwood armchairs These refined four armchairs were made in the first half of the 18th century in central Italy. The structure, with a very wide seat, is in golden wood and lacquered in shades of blue, finely carved with rocaille motifs characteristic of the Louis XV era. The carvings create low-relief phytomorphic elements of great plasticity and elegance. The backrest, quadrangular in shape with a rough and shaped profile, is crowned by a carved wooden element with volutes and foliated fan elements. The armrests are decorated with small volutes and plant motifs and end with a curl sculpture decorated with acanthus leaves that connects to the seat by a slightly curved element. The band under the seat is richly decorated with rocaille motifs in the center and connecting with the armrests. The arched and moved legs are adorned with plant motifs and end with a curly foot. The armchairs, in good condition, solid and stable, are suitable for use. They can be thought of in a room next to sofas, as head of the table, on the sides of a console or a dresser and are pleasant both close to antique and modern furnishings. Their size and the unusual width of the seat makes them particularly comfortable. Rare to find on the market in a group of four.
