This lovely large single chair made in Italy perhaps the Tuscan region in the late 18th cnetury is crafted from fine walnut with a deep rich color and patina. These chairs from circa 1840 are well made and retain the original split cane woven inset seat mats. The wood is finished in a deep rich red transparent lacquer giving the wood a lustrous finish . They are generous in scale and comfortable and original throughout. The arms are carved in a bamboo pattern and the central splat is decorated with a pierced Chinese linguistic character.
