About the Item
1950s armchair by French designer André Sornay.
Timber frame with upholstered drop in seat and drop in back cushion.
Good vintage condition for this rare sought after armchair.
André Sornay created furniture with resolutely modern lines. Influenced by Bauhaus and De Stijl movements
he belongs to a group of architects, artists and decorators who wished to design new forms, perfectly suited to modern life. He was part of the Union des Artistes Modernes ( an association of modern artists) along with Pierre Chareau, Francis Jourdain, Le Corbusier & Charlotte Perriand.
