French Louis XVI Style 19th Century Fauteuil with Fluted Accents and Upholstery
About the Item
A French Louis XVI style carved wood fauteuil from the 19th century, with traces of original paint, foliage motifs, fluted legs and new upholstery. This exquisite French armchair features a rectangular back, adorned with a slightly arched upper rail, flanked with eye-catching foliage-carved finials. Delicate beads and rais-de-coeur accentuate the structure. Two partially upholstered open arms are adorned with acanthus leaves on their scrolled knuckles and rest on fluted baluster supports. The skirt is adorned with motifs echoed from the upper rail, while the fauteuil is raised on four fluted tapering legs accented with carved rosettes on the knees. The ensemble has been recovered with a new double welt fabric, whose neutral color compliments the purity of the lines beautifully, while the chair shows remnants of its original painted finish. Its elegant Neoclassical lines, combined to the mastery of its carved décor will make this French Louis XVI style, 19th century armchair an excellent choice for any home, whether placed in a living room or bedroom.
