Pair 19th Century French Regence Walnut Armchairs, Fauteuils
About the Item
Pair 19th century French Regence walnut armchairs ~ Fauteuils is an incredibly elegant set, with the sumptuous wood, considered the finest indigenous furniture wood in Europe, skillfully and artfully sculpted with shell, floral and foliate motifs on the arched seatback crown, shoulders, and even the frame below the seatback. Elegantly contoured armrests, with padded upholstered arms, are carved with complementary motifs, leading the eye down to the generous seat which is supported subtly scrolled legs carved with shell, foliate and escargot designs, and crest motifs appearing between the legs on the apron.
