Pair of Rare Indian Cloisonne & Silver Armchairs

About the Item

A rare pair of Indian cloisonne and silver armchairs in the Regency manner. In hardwood and covered in beautifully decorated enamel depicting flowers and foliage, with repousse silver decoration. The original drop in seats were in Imperial purple velvet, which was sun bleached and newly upholstered in Royal blue velvet. These chairs most likely came out of a Maharaja's palace.

During the British Colonial period and in the two decades after independence, much Indian furniture was made following British or European styles.
