About the Item
Sam-bu-rá. The sound of the word of Tupi origin echoes ancestry and belonging. It refers to the daily life of the indigenous tribes of the Amazon where the art of basketry preserves generational knowledge and identity codes. Samburá is synonymous with the vine or bamboo basket used in fishing to store bait, tackle and caught fish. Inspiration for the eponymous armchair that invites relaxation. The aluminum frame resonates with a warm embrace. Lightness and sophistication in the timeless design intertwined with the culture of the people of the forest.

Sergio J. Matos
Sérgio J. Matos, 43, born in Paranatinga, a small town in the state of Mato Grosso, specializes in authorial design, furniture, objects and scenography. He has been performing this function for 12 years, but professionally, since the opening of his studio in 2010. The fact that he was born in a region close to the Xingu indigenous reserve, surrounded by the natural diversity of the forest, learned early on to be curious to know , admire and observe this culture, which awoke and stimulated him to look for ways to work with these natural materials and colors extracted from nature.
