Set of Six Gothic Revival Ornately Carved Walnut Gilt Metal Chairs after Pugin

About the Item

We are delighted to offer for sale this stunning set of six beautifully carved from solid Walnut with Gold Gilt metal fittings Gothic Revival chairs A very good looking, comfortable and highly decorative set of chairs, these date to late Victorian however they are Gothic Revival so based on a much older style Each chair is in lovely rich walnut, they have the original upholstery which is good and sound, the tassels are distressed and some have losses on both sides. The gilt metal fittings are bronze and cast to a very high standard In terms of the condition the chairs have been cleaned waxed and polished, they have had new seat pads fitted at some point and a few of the finials were broken and have been replaced, otherwise they are sublime Dimensions Height 96.5cm Width 51.5cm Depth 60cm Please note all measurements are taken at the widest point.

    We are delighted to offer for sale this exceptionally rare Gothic Revival circa 1840 solid oak partner desk with top drawer writing slope and side bookcases made by either Gillows of Lancaster or Pugin Where to begin, this desk has been on a journey, when I first received the piece it looked like it had been French polished and waxed around 20 times, it had a very clumpy sticky finish, my restorers have stripped back all that horrible guck, they have then lightly stained and French polished it the correct way which has kept all the period patina and simply made it golden, The leather top and writing slope top has been replaced with fully aniline natural cattle hide leather that was plain, I’ve then had my leather polishers dye it this gorgeous whisky brown colour.
