Swedish Art Deco Axel E Hjorth Chair, Birch 1920's

Dimensions for this chair are H 90 x 64 x 52. Seat Height 47. The actual upholstery is 44 x 44 cm. The upholstery is original. Swedish Art Deco chair made by Axel Einar Hjorth circa 1920s-1930s for Bodafors of Sweden. Constructed from Flamed birch in Hjorth's iconic design style of strong lines and geometric patterns. It has a unique paint in honey gold and brown hues. The chair has original upholstery. Part of his Roma series. Axel Einar Hjorth was a Swedish architect and designer whose application of Art Deco and Modernist aesthetics made his work an early model of contemporary Swedish design, with its emphasis on minimalism and functionality. His works are very sought after today and are even found in the collection of the National Museum in Stockholm. Hjorth died on June 21, 1959 in Stockholm, Sweden.
