Two Art Deco Modernist Children's Armchairs by Jan Wils for Eik en Linden, 1918

About the Item

Magnificent and ultra rare set of two Art Deco Modernist children's armchairs. Design by Jan Wils for Meubelfabriek Eik en Linden Alkmaar. Striking Dutch design from around 1918. Solid oak frames with original solid oak seats. Jan Wils was the architect of the Olympic Stadium in Amsterdam 1928. In very good condition with min or wear consistent with age and use, preserving a beautiful patina. One of the armchairs is marked with the original manufacturers metal tag. The Modernist look of this wonderful pair of Art Deco children's armchairs by Jan Wils is also known in the Netherlands under the name Haagse School. The Haagse School was inspired by the designs of the famous architect Frank Lloyd Wright. The famous Dutch Art Magazine Wendingen published a series of articles on Frank Lloyd Wright in 1925.
