Black Oak Tocker Bench by Matthias Scherzinger

About the Item

Black oak tocker bench by Matthias Scherzinger Dimensions: H 48 x W 40 x L 120 cm Materials: oak black stained hard wax seat: needled felt black-grey Also available in natural Oak. Other sizes and types of wood. The Tocker is a lightweight solid wood table suitable for dining or meeting rooms. The seamless transition from the table top to the base presents a compact unit, whereas the conically structured legs highlight its elegant form. The table top is divided into four sections to emphasise its character while uniting classical elements with modern design. The complex construction form ensures a substantial stability despite the application of minimal material thickness. Tocker has a confident touch of class. It all began in Glottertal, Germany. Born in 1978, Matthias developed early on a deep connection to nature and culture during his childhood. This was supported by the family‘s farming business (field, forest, vineyard, grassland). So, his rootedness in tradition and home arose early. Then, the handling of wood was restricted to the maintenance and care of the family forest. During school, Matthias’ strengths soon became visible. These all happened to be of the artistic kind. Driven by his practical nature, he was destined to start working in skilled crafts and trades after graduation. So in 1999, he decided to start an apprenticeship as a joiner/cabinet maker. Following his first professional years, he felt like a change. Following his inner voice in search of development and self-fulfillment, he initiated a journey in search of his new self. In 2014 he returned to his origins and founded his own furniture label by the name of FREUDWERK - Design & Manufaktur. Initially, FREUDWERK was merely a design studio located in Glottertal, Germany. In the meantime, Matthias owns and operates his own factory in Reute, Germany, where he develops and crafts his creations in a very skilled, careful and elaborate way. Alongside his own collection, Matthias manufactures designs from individual customer specifications. FREUDWERK services deliver conceptualisation, prototyping and serial manufacturing, that is, a wholistic design from beginning to end.

  • Batlló Bench In Solid Oak by Antoni Gaudí Spanish modernist design, Barcelona
    By Antoni Gaudí
    Located in Barcelona, ES
Solid oak. A company that has always attributed such great importance to the author of the designs could never forget the great figures in history. That is why the BD catalogue of contemporary creations has always included those by admired classical masters. Antoni Gaudí (1852/1926) is, without doubt, the most internationally well-known Spanish architect. But is not only his buildings and brilliant architectural solutions that have travelled the globe. His integrated conception of architecture led him to pay attention, not only to structural calculations, but also to all the decorative elements, including furniture, that would form part of the building. The admiration felt by modern designers for the furniture designed by Gaudí has not gone unnoticed by BD which was the first company to rescue them from history by embarking on their serial production using traditional art and craft techniques and the same materials –varnished solid oak– in order to reproduce all the rich detail displayed by the originals when they were first produced. The Batlló bench...
