The Foundations series for Bloc Studios was designed by Joseph Magliaro of table of contents. Each piece is structured around the pairing of a stone base with a metal supplement/platform.
Table of contents is a multivalent design studio formed by Shu Hung and Joseph Magliaro in 2008. The studio develops projects situated between commercial and cultural contexts, with outcomes spanning environments, objects, graphics, and texts. With an approach that seeks to balance poetics with pragmatics, TOC attempts to honor Lee Ufan’s notion that “the highest level of expression is not to create something from nothing, but rather to nudge something that already exists so that the world shows up more vividly.” As of May 2016, TOC is based in New York.

Bloc Studios
Based on the emerging vision of marble that involves re-thinking functional design out of industrial excess, Bloc studios is built on the ideas of international collaborations and in-house designed pieces. The brand was founded in Carrara in 2014 by Sara Ferron Cima and Massimo Ciuffi with the intention of transforming raw, natural stones into thoughtful everyday objects while preserving the inherent qualities of the marble. Following the philosophy that every pieces of marble contain a unique story waiting to be revealed, each piece is a unique one.
