French Louis XVI Style Scroll Arm Window Bench, Late 19th Century
About the Item
A French Louis XVI style carved wood and upholstered bench from the turn of the 19th and 20th century. This antique bench from France is backless, and is flanked with a pair of gracefully curved arms that terminate into scrolled volutes with floral medallions carved at wood framing along the side. The wood trim on the arms and skirt are nicely carved in an acanthus and fluted motif, with rosettes adorning each knee. It is presented upon eight rounded and fluted legs that gently taper towards their peg feet. The bronze/gilt finish on the wood has a lovely aged patina throughout. The upholstery is ready for a refreshing; a great opportunity to customize this piece to suit your home decor. This late 19th century French Louis XVI inspired arm bench, is just shy of 5.5 feet in length, and would be a fabulous piece at the foot of a bed, in an entry hall, or used as a window bench.
