A large rustic bench with painted base. The top is constructed using mortise and tenon joints.
CREATOR Unknown.
DATE OF MANUFACTURE c.1930-1940.
MATERIALS AND TECHNIQUES Pine.
CONDITION Good. Wear consistent with age and use. Minor loss on the bottom of one foot. Sturdy. Very light in weight.

HISTORY
A mortise and tenon joint connects two pieces of wood or other material without using nails or screws. Woodworkers around the world have used it for thousands of years to join pieces of wood, mainly when the adjoining pieces connect at right angles.
