Mercedes Bench by Markus Friedrich Staab

About the Item

work bench from my Grandfathers Construction Firm, re-modeled, cut, painted and lacquered in high gloss I learn out of a past that has been created for me, a foundation to build on my own work And create new pathes of art, design and everything that comes with it. Like my heros Braque and Duchamp invented an artform out of existing things, I build my works out and with existing useable pieces like furniture parts or whole classic pieces of designers and craftsmen, rework them, and give them a new destination which I call re-done or con temporized. To build an open mind for peolple who like classic furniture but interpretate them in a simple, unperfect perfectnes that makes you think. Combining pieces in a untraditional way with traditional methods, like different shapes and different colour matches. The only problem is to find a springboard, parent material to begin with. It works , sometimes it does’nt, or other times you have to wait till the right idea comes. Every piece has a destination and its own mind.
