19th Century Mahogany Pair of Library Armchairs

About the Item

A very fine quality pair of 19th century mahogany French Empire library armchairs having well figured Top rails over enclosed swept arms with carved Moulded decoration raised on elegant sabre legs (These chairs are very typical of the general early 19th century French Empire design, however they are much better quality than most that you see, much bolder in style and are filled in (upholstered) under the arms which is unusual as this area is normally open. They were clearly made for a very wealthy, high end house which required items for practical purposes that were of a certain design, but also wanted to set themselves above the general population. Another interesting and nice feature is the loose and deep cushions, which is again quite an unusual feature with by far the majority of chairs of this design simply having a fixed, stuffover seat which can often be quite firm, or even hard. These chairs have been recently re-upholstered and now boast new fabric and are therefore ready to place straight into the home).  SHIPPING Please be aware, that I the seller of this item, am able to confirm that a restricted species, CITES, licence will not be required to ship this item cross border.
