Arthur Arbesser Pemo Chair No. 1 - Navy/Saffron

About the Item

The smooth yet precise shape of the chair acquires a mesmerizing sense of motion as it interacts with the linear graphic surface. This three-dimensional amalgamation of patterns and colors evokes an immediate feeling of joy through the harmonious interplay of angles, curves, and lines. The deliberately naive shape and scale of the chair purposely recall children’s furniture, providing a delightful contrast to the meticulous craftsmanship and the skillful application of solid laminate onto its curved surface. The tiny, striped chairs - playfully out of proportion and anchored through the remarkable weight of their sturdy wooden base - assume a sculptural presence that transcends their functional purpose, resembling an art installation rather than practical furniture pieces. Only two chairs are produced for each distinct color variation, rendering this collection a truly limited edition. Arthur Arbesser is a Milan based fashion designer. Born and raised in Vienna, Arbesser was deeply immersed in the city’s history and culture as he grew up. After graduating from London’s Central Saint Martins College he moved to Milan to work for Giorgio Armani for seven years. Subsequent to launching his own namesake label and winning Vogue Italia’s “Who Is On Next” contest and being a finalist of the 2015 LVMH Prize, he quickly became recognized for his graphic aesthetics and personal design language. In addition to his own brand, Arbesser is a creative consultant and also works on numerous collaborations from furniture to product design. (HEM, Wittmann, Gubi, Belmond, etc). Costume design for ballet and opera completes its current creative world.
