Lina Bo Bardi, One Chair "Frei Egidio" /Edition Marcenaria Barauna

La chaise Frei Egídio a été développée par Lina Bo Bardi, Marcelo Ferraz et Marcelo Suzuki, pour équiper le théâtre Gregório de Mattos à Salvador. Elle devait être légère et facilement transportable et, pour ce faire, elles ont pris comme exemple les chaises pliantes de la renaissance italienne que l'équipe utilisait lorsqu'elle travaillait à la Glass House. En étudiant comment moderniser sa conception, les différentes lattes du modèle classique ont été synthétisées en trois rangées de planches. La définition du bois, des raccords et du matériel était à la charge de Ferraz et Suzuki, qui, en travaillant simultanément sur la conception et la fabrication, ont réussi à finaliser la chaise telle que nous la connaissons. Le nom de la chaise est venu de Lina, qui a voulu rendre hommage au frère qui l'a invitée à concevoir l'église d'Espírito Santo do Cerrado, à Uberlândia, au cours de la décennie précédente. (Marcenaria Barauna) La structure de la chaise est constituée de quatre pieds en bois massif de pin, reliés par des traverses, qui supportent le siège et le dossier en contreplaqué. Le dossier est légèrement ergonomique pour offrir un soutien confortable à l'utilisateur, tandis que le siège est plat et rectangulaire. Le design de la chaise est simple, épuré et fonctionnel, caractéristique du style brésilien moderne de Lina Bo Bardi. La chaise est élégante et convient à divers environnements, des salles à manger aux bureaux en passant par les espaces de détente.
