About the Item

A pair of early American Victorian slipper chairs in walnut with upholstered back & seat, circa 1840. Features an outward scrolled back, carved seat rail & turned front legs. Original upholstered framework has springs, designed for added comfort. Note: You should always request a shipping quote.   • Condition:
    Refinished. Wear consistent with age and use. Dark amalgamated finish was brought back to its original lighter color. Gimp was replaced. Fabric is old and worn but serviceable.

Charles Baudouine (June 1, 1808 – January 13, 1895 was an American cabinetmaker and interior decorator, and was the patriarch of a major family in New York society in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Born in New York of Huguenot ancestry, Baudouine was first listed as a cabinetmaker in the New York City Directory of 1829-30, working at 508 Pearl Street.
