Scottish Horseshoe Back Chair

About the Item

Scottish horseshoe-back chair, circa 1850-1870. This vernacular Windsor style stick-back chair from Argyll, Scotland, features pegged construction and remnants of original earthy red milk paint. Its seat is pine, legs and spindles are elm and the horseshoe back rail is yew wood. Originally created to function as a work or milking chair, its petite proportions make it a great fireside accent or a perfect child's chair. Note: Original/early finish on antique and vintage metal will include some, or all, of the following: patina, scaling, light rust, discoloration, and corrosion. Regional differences in humidity and climate during shipping may cause antique and vintage wood to shrink and/or split along its grain, veneer to loosen and/or peel, and painted finishes and gilt to crack and flake.
