About the Item

I propose to you a set consisting of 4 model 620 chairs designed in the mid-60s by Silvio Coppola for the historic luxury furniture brand Bernini. This chair fully represents the style for which Bernini production is known throughout the world and which makes its pieces still unmistakable among the vast Italian production of the mid-twentieth century: fine materials such as solid wood and Italian leather, essential but never banal, artisanal and industrial workmanship that coexist happily within the same project. Important designers such as Carlo Scarpa, Afra and Tobia Scarpa, Gianfranco Frattini have worked for Bernini and in the case of the chairs in question, the design is by Silvio Coppola. They are four chairs in turned solid walnut wood, whose legs, like the paws of an elephant, extend towards the end part. A dark and precious wood, which, thanks to the complete restoration carried out by our trusted restorer, now fully shows the splendid grains and color variations of the wood. The style of these chairs is somewhat reminiscent of the Brazilian design of the mid-20th century with this essential wooden structure and the use of leather, informal in the backrest, consisting of a strip of cognac leather, more worked and comfortable in the padded seat, which presents a capitonnè workmanship. While the wooden part of these chairs has been completely restored for the upholstery, a specialized craftsman replaced the padding of the seats, preserving the original leather in order not to alter the originality of the piece and preserve its patina. The seats and backrests have been treated with a specific product for leather but still show, as visible in the photo, minimal signs of use and aging. Reach out for any additional questions.

Additions or alterations made to the original: A specialized upholsterer replaced the padding of the seats, preserving the original leather in order not to alter the originality of the piece and preserve its patina. The seats and backrests have been treated with a specific product for leather. Refinished. Wear consistent with age and use. The wooden part of these chairs has been completely restored. The chairs are stable and solid, and the walnut wood, thanks to the polishing, shows the grain and splendid shades of color of the wood.
