Vittorio Introini Set of Four Longobarda Dining Chairs by Saporiti 1960s Italy

About the Item

Set of four Longobarda chairs with chromed metal legs, seat, and back upholstered with blue shade fabric. The Longobarda chair was designed by Vittorio Introini and manufactured by Saporiti in 1960s. Vittorio Introini is an Italian designer and artist of postwar and contemporary art born in 1935. His works were presented at the KANAL exhibition at the Pompidou Center in Paris. Architect and passionate designer, Vittorio Introini began his design activity in the sixties of the twentieth century. The charge of innovation and change of his architectural works and design is given by his rich cultural background and the breadth of cultural and architectural references. His language unites different elements including individual creativity, subjectivity of compositional systems and knowledge of new materials. Introini’s design activity begins at the sunset of the Modern Movement due to the ideological contradictions of the multiple components. On his works the role of Internationalism and Antistoricism are crucial. The decisive renewal occurred with the contribution of Ernesto N. Rogers that allowed to acquire, in advance of the international conservative criticism, the awareness of the individuality of cultures and places in antithesis to the Movements mentioned. The concept of "context" opened new analytical horizons progressively extended from urban morphology and semiology to the design method. Introini’s design, in harmony with the Neorationalism of Rossian derivation, can be traced back to the following principles: typology, syntax, language.
