Wonderful mid-century Industrial set of 4 dining or office chairs comprised of chrome frames, black vinyl seats and backs, and wood arms by Superior Chaircraft. Beautiful condition, keeping in mind that these are vintage and not new so will have signs of use and wear. The vinyl had some nicks that have been touched up. Please see photos and zoom in for details. We attempt to portray any imperfections. Circa, 1990.

This is a fantastic set of four mid-century Industrial style by Superior Chaircraft dining or office chairs comprised of chrome frames, lovely black vinyl seats and backs, and spectacular wood arms. They have a sturdy, solid frame and a simple, but classic appearance sure to withstand the hands of time. They are the perfect seating option whether you have a modern aesthetic, industrial, modern country, rustic, Art Deco, or Hollywood Regency décor. They would be wonderful surrounding a dining table, breakfast nook, game table, as extra seating in the family room, or in an office setting. There are seven arm chairs and one side chair. They are in wonderful vintage condition with minor wear that you would expect with age. Please see photos, circa 1995. In 1997 Giancarlo Piretti received an award for his Torsion seating collection. These chairs are part of that collection. Designed and made initially and primarily for commercial purpose they are extremely comfortable and flexible. They are lightweight and stackable. This set has an attractive textured high impact black plastic seat, back, and arms on chrome legs. No one expects this chair have the comfort it provides. The back flexes. This flex is achieved with the torsion mechanism which creates gradually increasing resistance. They were designed for comfort during long meetings or lectures. But, that makes them perfect for long dinners with lots of conversation. Or, family night with puzzles, cards, and games. The designer, Giancarlo Piretti, was born in Bologna Italy in 1940. He attended art schools there and subsequently taught Interior Design. During that time, he was also designing furniture for Anonima Castelli. He has won numerous awards and has items in many museums including MoMA New York. He still lives and works in Bologna with is son, designer Alessandro Piretti.
