Rare 19th Century Art Nouveau Set of 8 Chairs in Mahogany and Leather, Vienna

About the Item

This is an absolutely outstanding rare set of 8 Mahogany leather chairs was hand crafted in Vienna circa at the end of the 19th century and represents the highest quality of craftsmanship and exquisite design of Austrian Art Nouveau. The Chairs are signed and stamped from the master craftsman Gustav Gassman who created fine Art Nouveau furnitures during the same time in Vienna, Austria as Gustav Klimt, J&J Kohn, Josef Hoffman, Otto Wagner and Loos. Gustav Gassman K.&K. existed at the time of Austrian Habsburger Empire and stands for imperial-royal. This abbreviation was used to refer to all state institutions in the Austrian Empire (1804-1867) and then to state institutions in the Austrian part of the successor Austro-Hungarian empire (1867-1918). The chairs are extremely comfortable and stylish. They are made from high quality Mahogany wood and beautiful embossed leather with checkered design and fleur- de- lis ( symbol for French royalty ). The set consist out of two arm chairs and six upright chairs. The dimensions of arm chairs are given above and the size of the upright chairs is : height 88 cm, width 46 cm, depth 45cm and seat height 47 cm.
