About the Item

Set of 6 dining chairs (1 carver) Late 19th century Scottish chairs with drop in seats. Constructed from Ash with hand stitched seat covers each with an individual design. All seats are in good condition. All chairs are structurally sound. No damage but a nice, aged patination to the timber on carver chair as shown. Back height 87cm Seat height 45cm Seat depth 43cm Width 51cm (measurements are approximate and are taken at the maximum points)

    This is a lovely set of fourteen antique Victorian solid mahogany "Athenian" design dining chairs, Circa 1870 in date. The top rails, sides and central splats feature beautfully carved geometric designs and the chairs are raised on turned and reeded front legs legs that terminate in brass and brown porcelain castors. We have just reupholstered the chairs in a sumptuous Moore & Giles tan leather with individual brass studs. Transform the fine dining experience in your home with this beautiful and comfortable set of chairs in classical design. The botanical name for the mahogany these chairs are made of is Swietenia Macrophylla and this type of mahogany is not subject to cites regulation. Condition: In excellent condition having been beautifully cleaned, polished, waxed and reupholstered in our workshops, please see photos for confirmation.
