About the Item
These chairs were made in 1928 for the Swedish Department Store Nordiska Kompaniet, or NK. The set features two carver chairs and four side-chairs. These chairs are strong examples of the transition from the Gustavian period into a more refined Scandinavian Modern design vernacular. A rattan seat is boxed in by a generous Ash frame with a deep honey patina. Nordiska Kompaniet's commitment and ethos of skilled craftsmanship is emphasised through the structural properties, as well as the details that follow around the chairs.
