Brazilian Modernist Club Chairs by Móveis Cimo, a Pair, circa 1950s
About the Item
A pair of Brazilian modernist chairs by Móveis Cimo, circa late 1950s. Sculpturally crafted from rosewood and featuring original camel-hued leather, these statement club chairs are rare and valuable icons of design. Note the metallic details punctuating the geometry of the wood, which harken to brutalist sensibilities, as well as the wood grain which runs uniquely through the elbows of the chairs.
Móveis Cimo was founded in 1913 by Willy Jung and Jorge Zipperer in Rio Negrinho and was renowned for crafting and manufacturing extraordinary artistic furnitures - these chairs certainly attest to that - before it shuttered in 1982.
