Kwok Hoi Chan Lemon sole chairs Steiner France 1971

About the Item

Rare set of so called 'Lemon sole' chairs designed by Kwok Hoi Chan and manufactured by Steiner in France in 1971. The chairs feature a tubular frame plated in chrome with their original emerald green leather, which remains in excellent condition with minimal signs of usage. Each chair is identified and numbered, displaying the authentic Steiner tag beneath the seats. These chairs are all about simplicity and clever craftsmanship. The chair is in fantastic original condition with cream leather upholstery that’s aged beautifully over time. Kwok Hoi Chan, originally from Hong Kong, moved to France and designed several pieces for Steiner. His style combines his unique touch with French aesthetics of his time, resulting in interesting organic designs. The chair has a sturdy chrome tubular frame and comfy leather-covered seat and backrest. The hanging frame allows for a bit of flexibility, and the integrated armrests and gentle backrest make it a perfect lounge chair. The chairs are priced and sold individually, we have 3 in stock. Literature: Steiner et l’aventure du design Patrick Favardin, page 12, 196-197 Kwok Hoi Chan was a Chinese architect and interior designer. He studied University of Architecture, Hong Kong. Interior design projects included furniture for Air India and the IBM offices in Hong Kong. 1966-68, Chan worked in a design studio, London, contributing to the interiors of the ocean liner Queen Elizabeth II. He subsequently, designed for Spectrum, the Netherlands. He created the cantilever in tubular steel with leather-covered thermoplastic material, an Alligator lounge chair, a Chromatic range, and a Zen chair, all produced by Sieges Steiner.
