Ole Wanscher's Colonial Chair and Ottoman in Rosewood, 1950s

About the Item

This is a rare and in exceptional condition Ole Wanscher's Colonial Chair and Ottoman in Rosewood, with original black leather cushions as well as a new set of new Maharam Sorghum brown cushions. Poul Jeppesen in Denmark c1950s and distributed by Illums Bolighus with solid rosewood for the frame, cane seating under black leather cushion seating. Perhaps the most famous design by Ole Wanscher, the Colonial Chair PJ 149 is inspired by 17th century English furniture. The solid wood frame is slim and curvy, which belies the chair's strength and stability. The distinctive arms curve upward to an elegant point and then straight down to join the rest of the frame. Condition Report: The chair and ottoman frame is in excellent condition, minor wear for its age but no crack on the frame. The frame has lighten up overtime due to UV exposure, revealing striking rosewood grain especially around the legs. Seat Caning is also in great condition, no disconnect. Cushions have great patina on the leather, and is showing some age and tears around the loops on the back rest cushions. We also provide a newly made set of cushions upholstered in Maharam Sorghum Brown leather.
